What Is Entropion?
This is a condition in which the eyelid turns inward, typically affecting the lower lid.
What Causes Entropion?
Entropion usually stems from a muscle spasm; however, it can also be caused by:
- aging
- scarring from trauma
- inflammation from certain diseases that involve the eyelids
When the eyelid turns inward, the lashes rub against the eye, resulting in irritation, scratchiness, burning, tearing and redness.
