What can a forehead lift achieve?

When adult men and women are thinking about undergoing surgical procedures, they may be unsure as to what procedures they want to undergo. They may have an understanding of the area they want to improve, but might not be sure what the procedure they require is called. For patients who have imperfections they’d like to correct on the upper third of the face, a forehead lift may be the best option.

What is a forehead lift?

A forehead lift is a procedure that removes excess skin the forehead area through an incision along the hairline. In doing so, it can smooth wrinkles along the forehead area, eliminate skin laxity, and also lift the brow area for a more alert and awake appearance to the face as a whole. The forehead lift is commonly performed in a way to reduce the appearance of scars by making incisions behind the hairline or behind the ears. During a consultation appointment, patients can speak to our professionals about what can be achieved with a forehead lift to ensure realistic expectations.

What can a forehead lift achieve?

Patients often consider a forehead lift to address:

  • Poor self-confidence or self-esteem
  • A tired, dull, or older appearance due to wrinkles and folds
  • Symmetry of both the forehead and the eyebrows
  • Tired or unalert appearance to the eyes
  • Lowered brows due to skin laxity

What can I expect for recovery from a forehead lift?

Most patients will take approximately one week off of work and/or school to heal and recover after their procedure. The full healing time needed is often anywhere from two to four weeks if patients closely follow their doctor’s post-operative care instructions. Patients are also educated on what to look for in terms of signs of infection that can occur along the incision line and should contact their doctor with any concerns that may arise.
