Cosmetic surgery was once the only option for men and women to look younger. The advent of dermal fillers gave rise to new alternatives for those who did not have advanced signs of aging. Combing cosmetic surgery around the eye area with dermal fillers can address almost every mild to a moderate issue that arises as we get older.
Aesthetic Procedures for the Eye Area
The most common problem that develops in the eye area is sagging, either in the eyelids or the brow and forehead. Blepharoplasty is a surgery that removes excess skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids. On the upper eyelids, the procedure remedies sagging that causes part of the eye to be covered, as well as a general appearance of puffiness and fatigue. The lower eyelids benefit from surgery when the weight of excess skin and fat exposes the soft pink tissue inside the lid and causes bags and puffiness under the eyes. A brow lift is recommended to correct sagging of the brow and forehead to give the eyes a more alert appearance. For the most dramatic results, a forehead lift can be combined with blepharoplasty.
Correcting the Mid-Face Area
The mid-face area primarily includes the cheeks. Two problems develop in the cheek area to make a person look older:
- The fat loss gives the cheeks a more sunken and hollow appearance
- Lax skin and shift in the fat causes the cheek area to sag downward to create creases and wrinkles, as well as less defined cheeks
The cheek area can be improved with the dermal fillers Voluma® and Restylane® Lyft.
Anti-Aging for the Lower Face
The lower face includes the nose and mouth. Signs of aging that develop in this area are:
- Nasolabial folds
- Marionette lines
- Vertical lip lines
Mild to moderate wrinkles in the nose and mouth area are treated with Juvéderm® Ultra, and Juvéderm Ultra Plus is best for severe wrinkles. Radiesse® and Restylane® may be recommended for the same area based on the nature of the wrinkles and the goals of treatment.
